The
Crestone Charter School is a complete,
K-12 organization serving all children towards meeting the Global
Ends Policies as set up by our community. At the heart of our
organization are small, mixed age classes. This has many advantages
for our students. Our teachers know the students well and work with
them as individuals over several years in self-contained classes.
Because of this, each student can work at a rate that is equal to
their own rate of learning and using the learning styles that favor
them best. Mixed-age groupings also favor the individual child.
Within a mixed-age classroom, children can learn from each other
as well as from the teacher in their studies.

Small
groups are rarely limited to same-age groups of children and focus
on learning rather than on passing a grade level. The Early Elementary
K-1 classroom is led by Susan Fey and is strongly influenced by
the Waldorf system of learning. The Primary 2-3 Classroom is led
by Jennifer Baldwin. The Intermediate 4-5 Classroom is led by Anrahyah
Arstad. The Middle School 6-8 classroom is led by Charlie Warren
and is an eclectic blend of learning and teaching styles based on
the middle school model. Karen Acker is the leader of the LINK High
School 9-12 classroom. In this classroom, students are individually
prepared for their trajectory after our school. Thomas Cleary is
our school-wide outdoor education leader, and Mary Dodge is the
coordinator of the mentorship program for LINK students and provides
key individual help for readers in all classrooms. Select any of
the above classrooms to learn more!
